●  Physical attack in Warszawa Śródmieście

A Belarusian man, Valentin, reported that he was punched in the face without warning by an unknown man while waiting for a taxi at night in central Warsaw. The attacker immediately fled. Valentin suffered a head injury and a broken tooth, spent about nine hours in hospital, and medical records described the injuries as resulting from an assault by another person.

Valentin did not file a formal police complaint after officers told him that the process could take a long time and that the chances of identifying the attacker were low. He said he decided not to pursue the case because he had to leave the city and believed the investigation would likely be unsuccessful.

Valentin believes the attack may have been motivated by the fact that he had been speaking Russian shortly beforehand, although he stressed this is only his assumption because the attacker said nothing. He also said several acquaintances had recently reported hearing insults directed at people speaking Belarusian or Russian in public, and linked these incidents to growing anti-migrant sentiment and heightened public tensions in Poland.
