●  Physical attack in Bielsko-Biała

On 31 August 2023, on one of the municipal sports pitches in the Komorowice district of Bielsko-Biała, a group of teenagers brutally beat two brothers who were refugees evacuated from Afghanistan together with their parents.

The boys were playing football with several other children when the aggressors began to harass them and took their ball away. When the 11-year-old Afghan boy asked for it back, he was severely beaten: the attackers knocked out one of his teeth and blackened his eye. They also hit his 7-year-old brother. None of the other children was harmed.

The injured boys were taken to the Paediatric Hospital in Bielsko-Biała. With the support of a friendly Polish family, the Afghans filed a report of the assault with the police. The results of the proceedings were not made public. After the fall of Kabul in August 2021, 1,101 people were evacuated to Poland, most of them employees of international organisations, activists and people cooperating with the Polish army; several families from Afghanistan settled in Bielsko-Biała.
