●  Physical attack in Bydgoszcz

On or around 31 July 2026, on Gdanska Street in the centre of Bydgoszcz, a middle-aged Polish man attacked a Ukrainian woman in the street. Video recorded by the woman shows the man waving a bottle towards her face, shouting vulgar insults and calling her a "Banderite", spitting at her twice and throwing a stone at her. The woman kept filming in order to document the assault for the police.

The recording also shows a female passer-by who, instead of helping, tried to discourage the woman from filming and blamed her for the situation.

After the video spread online, officers of the Bydgoszcz city-centre police station opened an investigation into insulting a person on national grounds, an offence punishable by up to three years in prison. Police spokesman Jakub Skrzypek confirmed the proceedings and said officers were looking for witnesses and trying to establish the man's identity. The victim subsequently filed a formal complaint.
