●  Insult in Poznań

On Sunday 30 August 2026, at around 3:30 p.m., a 50-year-old resident of Poznań came to the Ukrainian shop Odessa Market on Śródka street in Poznań. One of the shop assistants noticed him spraying paint on the shop window. He then turned on the Ukrainian women working in the shop and insulted them because of their nationality, telling them to go back to Ukraine and that they were taking work away from Poles, before walking off. When the police arrived he was no longer there.

According to the shop owner, the man also spat towards the employees and took two bottles of wine from the shop as he left; the police have confirmed the nationality-based insults and the damage to the window, but have not confirmed the spitting.

Officers reviewed CCTV footage, established the man's identity and detained him in Poznań at around 4 a.m. the next day. He was drunk at the time of the arrest and was placed in a police cell. He is suspected of insulting a Ukrainian citizen on national grounds and of damaging the shop window; the case is to be decided by a court.
