On Sunday, 4 October 2026, shortly before 10 a.m., on Garncarska Street in central Gdańsk, an aggressive man first started a row with an employee of one of the businesses on the street and then moved on to a shop nearby. According to the police, during both incidents he shouted insults based on nationality at a Ukrainian woman and man.

A video published by WP journalist Tomasz Waleński records the man shouting: "I would kill you, kill. I would take a knife and slaughter you" ("Zabiłbym was, zabił. Wziąłbym nóż i was zaszlachtował"), along with numerous swear words. A frightened female shop employee had to lock the door to protect herself from him.

The man left before police arrived. Officers identified witnesses and are documenting the incident. The victims did not want to file an official complaint, but police said nationality-motivated offences are prosecuted ex officio.
