● Physical attack in Przasnysz
Two Ukrainian nationals, Ivan S. and Vasyl H., were attacked with a machete on the evening of February 19, 2026, at a residential property in Przasnysz. The attackers, Mateusz P. and Sebastian Ś., entered the premises and immediately assaulted the victims. A Polish resident, Radosław P., stopped the attack by pulling the injured Ivan S. inside and locking the door. Both victims sustained cuts to their hands and fingers.
Both suspects have been arrested and charged with a hate crime — violence motivated by the victims' Ukrainian nationality. Mateusz P. explicitly stated he attacked the men because they are Ukrainian; Sebastian Ś. admitted involvement but claimed limited memory due to alcohol. One suspect was caught immediately after the attack, while the other hid at his aunt's apartment for over a month before being arrested on April 3. Both face up to 12 years in prison, with charges filed under aggravated repeat-offender conditions.
