● Physical attack in Warszawa Ursus
A Belarusian man, living in Poland since 2021 after his family fled political persecution, was attacked in Ursus together with his girlfriend. The attackers reportedly mistook him for a Ukrainian.
The incident began when two women approached, mentioning a knife and pepper spray. They took his electric guitar left on a bench, saying: “Look what these f*ing Ukrainians left behind.” Soon after, two men joined them, shouting xenophobic slurs and threats.
When the victim tried to run into his building, he was caught and struck on the head. The group also fired what seemed to be rubber bullets.
Police were called by his girlfriend. Initially the case was registered only as theft, but later an additional report was filed noting xenophobic motivation. The case has been transferred to the Warsaw district police unit dealing with crimes against life and health.
