A Belarusian woman reported that while waiting for a bus with her husband, an unknown man deliberately approached her from behind and repeatedly blew cigarette smoke directly into her face. She initially calmly asked the man to stop blowing cigarette smoke at her and reminded him that smoking was prohibited at the bus stop. After finishing his cigarette, the man allegedly approached her again, spat repeatedly on her back and clothes while laughing together with his wife and two children, and shouted, 'Sperdalaj na Ukrainie!' ('Fuck off to Ukraine!'). Although the victim is Belarusian rather than Ukrainian, she said the attacker appeared to target her because of her Eastern European accent.

According to the woman's account, the incident appeared to be motivated by hostility toward people with an Eastern European accent. She said the experience changed her perception of anti-migrant hostility, which she had previously believed was mostly limited to social media. She also wrote that the attack deeply affected her family: her children were frightened, cried after the incident, and said they wanted to leave Poland as soon as possible because they feared similar attacks.
