● Insult in Olesno
For about six months, up to August 2026, a 20-year-old Ukrainian citizen living in the Olesno county (powiat oleski, Opole voivodeship) was repeatedly insulted and threatened because of his nationality. According to the Opole police, three men of the same age humiliated him systematically, including in public and in the presence of other people, until he reported them to the police.
On 26 August 2026 the Opole voivodeship police announced that all three had been charged with publicly insulting a person because of their national origin. Two of the suspects were detained and taken to the district prosecutor's office in Opole; the third was questioned as a suspect a few days later. The charge carries a penalty of up to three years in prison.
