In Piekary Śląskie, a Ukrainian woman who works as a shop cashier described a friendly conversation with an elderly female customer and the customer's granddaughter, during which the customer mentioned that she and the girl live in Germany.

According to the cashier's own account, the customer then said that soon someone would come to power and "throw out all the blacks, Muslims and others." When the cashier asked "Ukrainians too?", the customer replied that she hated Ukrainians. The cashier then told the woman she herself is Ukrainian, after which the customer became flustered and tried to claim she "didn't mean it that way."
