● Insult in Bydgoszcz
On 12 August 2025 Adam Wajrak, a journalist and nature conservation activist, reported on Facebook a xenophobic incident he had witnessed in Bydgoszcz. At the beginning of July, on the promenade along the Brda river, two men shouted abuse at a group of Ukrainian children taking part in the Bydgoskie Impresje Muzyczne festival, calling out "F... Ukraine, f... refugees".
Wajrak described the scene: "Children were walking along the embankment with their carers. They were dressed mainly in Krakow folk costumes. Because insults were flying at them, I concluded that this was Ukrainian youth. I quickly located the shouters. Two young men of what one might call soon-to-be-conscription age were sitting on a bench and giving vent to their mouths. I went up to them and asked not very politely [...]. Something there they began to judge, that 'they get on with the Russians, and the Ukrainians lord it over us'. There was no sense in talking. I said goodbye to them not very nicely and went over to the children in the Krakow costumes. – Hold on – I said."
The account of the incident rests on the witness statement of the journalist himself, published on his social media profile.
