●  Insult in Leszno

On 24 February 2025 on the Market Square in Leszno, a dozen or so men associated with the informal far-right group Patrol Obywatelski Leszno disrupted a ceremony organised on the third anniversary of the Russian aggression against Ukraine. The gathering was attended mainly by Ukrainians, above all mothers with children.

During the speeches, including one by the deputy mayor of the city who assured the participants of solidarity with Ukrainians, the men wearing white-and-red armbands chanted "Poland for Poles", "All Poland anti-Banderite" and "Take your rags and f... off home". They did not stop shouting even when Ukrainian children with white-and-red flags appeared on the stage. Police officers with dogs and municipal guards kept the demonstrators away from the participants of the ceremony.

The Leszno dla Ukrainy foundation issued a statement: "It was an event full of emotion and solidarity, in which both Ukrainians and Poles took part. [...] We cannot accept a situation in which the public commemoration of the victims of war becomes a pretext for spreading hatred. Shouting down someone's mourning and memories is also inconsistent with elementary principles of culture and respect for another human being." On 25 February an aggressive, xenophobic post appeared on the Facebook profile of Patrol Obywatelski Leszno, illustrated with a graphic bearing the slogan "Death to the enemies of the fatherland" and containing the words: "We do not like it that Ukrainian rags take on Polish colours, that you force people to look at them, really the majority do not like it, we have had enough of this! [...] We pay the most for them! ENOUGH OF THE FREELOADERS!". The "NIGDY WIĘCEJ" Association sent the post to Facebook for verification because of the promotion of hatred; the platform refused to delete it.
