● Physical attack in Wrocław
On 25 August 2026 in Wrocław, a 66-year-old taxi driver, a citizen of Belarus, was attacked by a passenger during a ride. According to Wrocław police, the 23-year-old passenger heard the driver's "eastern accent" and began shouting insults about his nationality, and then hit the 66-year-old on the head with a glass bottle.
The aftermath was recorded by the dashcam of a car driving behind. On the footage released by the police, the young passenger runs out of the taxi while it is still pulling into the right-hand lane; the injured driver then gets out of the car, holding his chest and barely able to stand.
The driver reported the attack to the police. Officers of the Wrocław-Stare Miasto station identified and detained the 23-year-old man and charged him with attacking a person because of their national affiliation, an offence punishable by up to five years in prison. By decision of the prosecutor he was placed under police supervision and remains at liberty until trial.
