●  Physical attack in Siedlce

On the evening of 25 August 2026 a 41-year-old Polish woman attacked a 13-year-old Ukrainian girl on Plac Sikorskiego in the centre of Siedlce. The woman had been sitting on the square drinking alcohol with a man when a conversation started between her and three girls sitting nearby. She then directed her aggression at the Ukrainian teenager, insulting her with words referring to her nationality, and afterwards assaulted her and tore out her hair. According to prosecutors she also insulted the girl's mother.

Police were notified, identified the woman and detained her; investigators secured CCTV footage from Plac Sikorskiego that allowed them to reconstruct the events. The prosecutor Katarzyna Wasak of the District Prosecutor's Office in Siedlce confirmed the attack and the hair-pulling. The suspect, who does not live in Siedlce and had come to the city to visit the man she was with, was charged with violence against the 13-year-old and with insulting her on national grounds. She was placed under police supervision, must report to the police station once a week, and is banned from contacting the victims or coming closer than 50 metres to them.

The girl's mother described the attack on social media, writing that her daughter had become a victim of violence and had been humiliated because of her Ukrainian origin, and that the incident strongly affected her daughter's sense of security. The investigation is continuing and the case is expected to go to court.
