On 26 August 2026 at around 11:05 a.m. a man attacked a foreign passenger on tram line 7 in Poznań, between the Żeromskiego and Rondo Nowaka-Jeziorańskiego stops. The attacker, a stranger to the victim, struck him on the head and in the ribs while shouting at him to "get the f*** out to Ukraine", making the xenophobic motive of the assault explicit. The attack was filmed and the video was provided anonymously by the victim.

Police detained a 43-year-old Poznań resident in the Grunwald district a few hours after the assault. Investigators later linked him to at least six incidents of a similar character in Poznań trams and at public transport stops, with victims including a Ukrainian, a Belarusian and four Polish citizens. The prosecution charged him with insulting people because of their nationality, battery, threats and causing minor bodily harm, classified as hooligan acts, carrying up to 7.5 years in prison.
