●  Physical attack in Ćmielów

On 3 August 2026 in Ćmielów (Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship), a Ukrainian citizen was resting on a bench in front of an apartment block when 49-year-old Marcin D. approached him and began shouting insults and vulgar slogans against Ukrainians. He asked the man whether he was Ukrainian, and after the victim confirmed it, he grabbed a chain and beat him on the head, torso and arms, then fled.

Police detained the attacker a day later. The Kielce-Wschód District Prosecutor's Office charged him with insulting the victim on grounds of nationality and causing bodily harm for the same motive, as a hooligan offence committed in recidivism; he had previously served prison time for similar violent crimes. He was placed in pre-trial detention for two months. In September 2026 the indictment was sent to the District Court in Kielce; he faces up to 7.5 years in prison.
