●  Physical attack in Sosnowiec

On 3 May 2026 in Sosnowiec, 44-year-old Krzysztof B., a resident of the city, used violence against a 12-year-old boy from Ukraine. "The man hit the teenager in the head, causing superficial bodily injuries. The evidence gathered by the investigators leaves no doubt: the sole reason for this aggression was hostility towards people of Ukrainian nationality", said prosecutor Bartosz Kilian, spokesman of the District Prosecutor's Office in Sosnowiec.

Less than two months later, on 27 June, Krzysztof B. attacked an adult Ukrainian citizen, a customer in a grocery shop. When the perpetrator heard the man speaking Ukrainian on the phone, he flew into a rage: he publicly insulted him, pushed him and kicked him on various parts of the body. A further attack followed on 1 July: in a pet grooming salon the attacker made vulgar gestures at two women and sprayed pepper gas in their faces.

At the beginning of July the Sosnowiec police detained Krzysztof B. "Verification of the criminal record of the suspect showed that in the past he had repeatedly answered for offences against sexual freedom and decency, as well as acts against life, health and property", the District Prosecutor's Office in Sosnowiec reported. The investigation was supervised by the Sosnowiec-South District Prosecutor's Office. The man was charged with a total of six counts: using violence and insulting people because of their national origin in conditions of recidivism, and violating the bodily integrity of two women. The prosecution applied to the District Court in Sosnowiec for pre-trial detention because of the "probability of committing again an offence against life, health or public safety". The court granted the application and ordered three months of detention.
