●  Insult in Starachowice

On 7 October 2026, in a grocery store in Starachowice (Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship), a 61-year-old man publicly insulted a 12-year-old boy, a Ukrainian citizen, because of his nationality, and then threatened to kill him with an axe and a knife. According to police, the man had over 1 per mille of alcohol in his blood.

Police detained him immediately after the incident and found a knife on him. The prosecutor charged him with threatening to kill the boy because of his national affiliation; the man admitted guilt. On 9 October the District Court in Kielce ordered two months of pre-trial detention. He faces up to five years in prison.
