On Sunday, 11 October 2026, a group of foreign workers, reported to be about 30 citizens of Nepal, arrived by bus in Łosiów, a village in the Lewin Brzeski municipality (Opolskie voivodeship), and moved into a privately owned house rented for them. They had come to Poland to work in Wrocław; the village was chosen because rent there is cheaper and it has a railway station with trains to Wrocław.

Their arrival alarmed local residents, and rumours spread that a migrant centre was being opened in the village. Residents contacted the village head, who reported the matter to the police, and the mayor of Lewin Brzeski, Artur Kotara, and his deputy also asked the police to intervene. On the evening of the same day a police patrol checked the newcomers' identity documents. The check showed that all of them were staying in Poland legally and had permission to work.

The police were called only because the residents saw a group of foreign men arrive, not because anyone had done anything illegal, which treated their origin alone as a reason for suspicion. No offence or threatening behaviour by the newcomers was reported before the police were called.

The mayor later stated that no migrant centre would be opened in the municipality and appealed to residents to stay calm and not to spread unverified information.
