● Detention for deportation in Oborniki
On 8 August 2026, police launched a large-scale search in fields and forests near Łukowo after two foreign drivers reported that nine other foreigners had allegedly taken their car keys and fled into a cornfield. Police determined that the two complainants, one Ukrainian and one Estonian citizen, were themselves allegedly involved in an international migrant-smuggling operation transporting people from eastern to western Europe. Both men were detained and taken to the Oborniki police station.
Police searched the area with forces from Oborniki and Poznań and detained all nine people by 23:40. The group were identified as Afghan citizens who had allegedly entered Poland illegally. Documentation for deportation proceedings was subsequently prepared against all nine Afghans.
