● Physical attack in Warszawa Praga-Północ
On February 14 in Warsaw’s district Praga-Północ, a group of five men attacked a Ukrainian citizen after hearing his accent. The attackers were carrying telescopic batons, pepper spray, and objects resembling weapons. The assault happened near the Kijowska 03 tram stop and partially blocked traffic. The victim sustained injuries, including a fractured elbow.
Police arrived at the scene but did not detain the suspects. The victim claims officers said they needed backup due to the number of attackers and later made inappropriate remarks suggesting he could have defended himself. He also alleges that police prevented him from leaving before the ambulance arrived and requested additional information despite him presenting his passport and PESEL number. Complaints have reportedly been filed with the prosecutor’s office.
