● Physical attack in Kraków
On the evening of 26 January 2026, on the eve of the 81st anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, a Polish man verbally and physically attacked a group of Orthodox Jewish travellers from Israel at Kraków Airport in Balice. The group had just finished praying when he confronted them.
The man shouted "this is my country", "why did you come to Poland?" and "go back to Israel", told them to be quiet, and shouted "long live Poland" while waving his arms aggressively. According to the Israeli embassy and media reports, he also pushed one of the Israeli citizens.
The airport said the attacker was a passenger waiting for his flight, not an employee. Airport security and the Border Guard intervened, the Israeli embassy condemned the antisemitic attack, and police began preliminary checks.
