●  Labour raid in Sokołów Podlaski

Polish Border Guard officers from the Warsaw-Modlin post detained 16 foreign nationals during two residency-legality inspections carried out over the past week. The detainees — 10 Nepalese citizens and 6 Indian citizens — were working without the required work permits at a manufacturing plant in Sokołów Podlaski. The case stemmed from an earlier inspection conducted in February at an employment agency, which revealed irregularities in how the foreigners had been assigned their jobs without permits registered to the entity employing them.

Administrative proceedings were launched against all 16 men. Three have already received return decisions accompanied by a one-year ban on re-entering Poland and the Schengen area, while proceedings against the remaining 13 are ongoing. The owner of the employment agency, accused of multiple violations in hiring foreigners, will face a court application for punishment. Under Poland's March 20, 2025 law on conditions for assigning work to foreigners, illegally giving work to a foreign national carries a fine of between 3,000 and 50,000 złoty.
