Insult in Białystok

A Belarusian family living in Białystok for eight years reported that a group of young Polish men approached them while they were returning home from a walk with their 8-year-old daughter. The men shouted xenophobic insults at them, including 'Go back to Ukraine' ('Sp*dalaj na Ukrainę'), despite the family being from Belarus. One of the men reportedly approached the woman’s husband, provoked him, and threatened him. The family called the police, after which the group fled.

The incident sparked a discussion in the local Spotted Białystok community, where many residents expressed support for the family, while some commenters blamed Ukrainians and justified the hostility by claiming it was a reaction to alleged behavior of Ukrainian migrants.
