●  Discrimination in Gdańsk

A Ukrainian woman working as a shop assistant in a Żabka store in Gdańsk reported repeated xenophobic abuse from customers because of her Ukrainian origin and accent. She said that after starting work at the store, she began facing almost daily insults, with some customers becoming aggressive when she asked them to repeat something or when she did not know certain Polish product names.

In the described incident, a Polish customer became aggressive after learning that the employee was Ukrainian. He shouted profanities, called her offensive names, told her to “go back to Ukraine,” and made threats of violence. The woman refused to serve him, informed the manager, called security, and recorded the confrontation. She stated that this was one of several incidents of verbal aggression she had experienced from customers.
