● Physical attack in Łódź
In late June 2026, a 15-year-old Ukrainian boy was beaten at the Stawy Stefanskiego bathing area in Lodz. According to the police, a verbal exchange first broke out between two groups of people resting by the water. When the teenager came out of the water and went to his belongings left by a tree, he was attacked by two young men he did not know.
Police stated that the boy was insulted because of his nationality and then beaten, and that he was attacked for no reason other than being of a different nationality. Witnesses called the emergency services and the attackers fled the scene.
On 20 August 2026 officers detained the first suspect, a 17-year-old Polish citizen, who admitted taking part in the incident. The second suspect, a 24-year-old Polish citizen, was detained on 28 August 2026 and acted in conditions of recidivism. Both were charged with beating motivated by nationality, additionally qualified as an act of a hooligan character, punishable by up to 5 years in prison. The investigation is supervised by the District Prosecutor's Office Lodz-Gorna.
