● Physical attack in Warszawa
In mid-October 2026 (exact date not reported), a 30-year-old man attacked two Ukrainian citizens on a city bus in Warsaw. He stabbed and slashed both men with a knife, inflicting multiple stab and cut wounds, and fled before police arrived. Both victims were taken to hospital. According to police, the victims were attacked because of their nationality.
Officers from the Bielany district police identified the suspect, but he had gone into hiding. Criminal investigators tracked him to a makeshift hideout he had set up in a wooded area in Bielany, where he was detained.
The Warszawa-Żoliborz district prosecutor's office charged him with attacking the two Ukrainians, including attempting to cause serious bodily harm, and with a separate criminal threat against another man at a venue on Szekspira Street in August 2024. All acts were classified as committed in recidivism: he had previously served a sentence for a similar crime and reoffended within five years of release. At the prosecutor's request, the court ordered three months of pre-trial detention. He faces 3 to 20 years in prison.
