On 24 October 2026, a Ukrainian woman had a haircut at the PIED-DE-POULE beauty salon at Piękna 49 in central Warsaw (Śródmieście), which she considered a Ukrainian salon. The hairdresser, a Belarusian woman, answered her Ukrainian mostly with "uh-huh" and said a few phrases in Russian. After the visit the client looked up the hairdresser's Instagram, found that she had studied hairdressing in Russia in 2022, and took her for a Russian.

The client then published a Threads post titled "A Russian woman cut my hair in a Ukrainian salon in Warsaw", with screenshots including the hairdresser's diploma with her name. She tagged the salon and publicly asked whether it knew whom it hires and whether it was normal not to inform clients about employees' origin. The post exposed a named worker to public hostility and pressured her employer over her nationality, which in Poland amounts to a call for discrimination in employment.

The salon confirmed to the Belarusian outlet MOST that the hairdresser is Belarusian, that it employs staff from different countries, and that staff are not required to speak Ukrainian with clients. According to the salon, the hairdresser was fine after the publicity.
