● Insult in Katowice
On 9 June 2022, between 4:25 and 4:45 p.m. in Katowice, a man verbally attacked a teenage boy from Ukraine. The aggression began at the Brynów Centrum Przesiadkowe interchange and continued after the man boarded bus line 9 behind the boy. He insulted the teenager in a vulgar and humiliating way because of his nationality, shouting that Ukrainians should "go back home" and that they live off Polish taxpayers.
A 26-year-old female passenger stood up in the boy's defence. The man then turned on her, threatening to kill her, to rape her and to use a knife. To protect the boy, she got off the bus with him at the Ochojec Sadowa stop; the man followed them. She reported the incident to the Municipal Police Headquarters in Katowice.
Police established the man's identity and investigated the case as criminal threats and insult on national grounds. In their statement police stressed that "thanks to the woman's reaction the boy suffered no physical harm", and publicly thanked her.
