●  Physical attack in Pińczów

On the evening of 3 August 2022, near the city park in Pińczów, a 30-year-old local man attacked a 16-year-old resident of the town because of his skin colour. He shouted racist slogans and threats at the teenager and then used physical force against him. When the boy's 19-year-old companion came to his defence, the attacker hit him as well, causing bodily injury. Relatives of one of the victims helped them and the police were called to the scene.

The man was detained. He was charged with insulting and violating the bodily integrity of the 16-year-old on racist grounds and with causing bodily harm to the second victim. Two days later the court ordered his temporary detention for one month, so that evidence could be gathered without risk to the victims' safety. The offences carry up to five years in prison.
